Beef and Beans |
From Can Food into an Awesome Dish
Turn your
ordinary beans in a can into a much sought after meal. If you don’t know yet,
this Beef and Beans dish is one of the many easy-to-cook meals to make in no
time. You may eat it solely or as a side dish to complement your overall meal.
In the Philippines, dish like this is usually eaten with rice to complete a
full meal. In my next post, I will share with you on what to do with your leftover Beef and Beans. Fun Fact!
Beans are
a good source of protein. Other than this, did you know that they are packed
with antioxidants that lower the risk of certain cancers and even combat the
effects of free radicals that can cause sagging skin and other signs of aging? According
to Webmd.com, beans lower the risk of certain cancers, such as
breast, colon and prostate cancer. This is due to the presence of
phytonutrients. These are natural antioxidants and
anti-inflammatory compounds that are commonly found in plants and responsible
in propping up our immune defense system against diseases. To cite one, eating
beans helps reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. This is because they
are rich in soluble fiber (can be digested by the body) which
then turn into a watery gel inside the stomach. The gel-like substance absorbs
all the bad cholesterol (LDL) before they are fully absorbed by the body.
Moreover, beans are rich in insoluble fibers (cannot be
digested by the body) which are then collected in the stools to prevent
problems like constipation.

Ingredients |
◻ Spatula
◻ Big skillet or pan
◻ Mixing bowl
◻ Mixing spoon
1 Make the marinated ground beef. In a bowl, combine the ground
beef, black pepper, garlics, red onions, and paprika. Mix together and set
aside.
2 Heat oil in a big skillet
or pan and sauté the garlics until slightly brown. Next, add in
and sauté the remaining onions.
3 Pour in the ground beef mixture. Stir fry for 10 minutes or until
the beef is tender and slightly brown.
4 Stir the ground beef mixture from
time to time while you wait for it to cook.
5 Pour in the pork and beans and cook for another 5 minutes. Season food with salt and pepper to taste. Serve and enjoy!
👍 You may replace the ground
beef with ground pork if you wish.
👍 You may also add a bit more
paprika to give your Beef and Beans a spicy kick.
👍 I don’t put salt anymore in
this recipe because I find the taste just right without it. In my opinion, the
pork and beans in can is already tasty and enough to add flavor to the dish.
Just adjust the taste based on your preference.
So, there you go folks.
I hope this recipe has opened your mind to so many possibilities in which we
can make use of pork and beans. Have you ever tried cooking this dish? I would
love to know your thoughts.
